Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage is essentially the same as a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes. The primary purpose will be to help you relax, and the massage therapist will probably move at a slower pace and use light pressure. During a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or knots in the muscle tissue and the therapist won't push your pain limits in order to get the muscle to release. Sometimes people even fall asleep during a relaxation massage.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation, this is done through the use of five basic strokes, all flowing towards the heart. With the application of oil the therapist will use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and taping movements. The many benefits of Swedish Massage may include relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling form injury.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient, natural healing art based on the principle that reflex points on the feet correspond to every part of the body, including glands and organs.  In other words, the feet are a map for the entire body. These reflex points are found by dividing the body into 10 different zones.  These zones represent the body’s energy pathways and by applying pressure on a particular reflex point, it stimulates the flow of energy in that zone.  This clears any energy blockages and benefits any organ or gland within the zone.
